SPEED LAX

Registration is now open for Fall Speed Lax!  Speed Lax is a lacrosse program for boys and girls.  We will be running three separate sessions grouped by age.  We will be playing Sunday mornings on the Bunnell turf.  This program will run for four weeks beginning September 13th.

Rising 1-4th graders  8:30-9:30am

Rising 5-7th graders  9:30-10:30am

Rising 8-10th graders  10:30-11:30am

Speed lacrosse is played with a softer ball, the only equipment needed is a lacrosse stick and a mouth guard.

This program allows the boys and girls to play and learn together.

Speed lacrosse games are played 3 on 3 on a small field, which helps to sharpen throwing and catching skills, and teaches quick decision making.

There is no checking allowed. The children will learn to play defense the right way… by moving their feet!

$60 for the 4 Week Program

There are only 30 available spots for each session.

Registration closes on September 10th

so register now at WWW.STRATFORDSTORM.COM

(We will email out specific safety guidelines in advance of the start of this program)

Annual SYL Scholarship Winners for 2020!

SYL honors both a male and female candidate each year with a $250 scholarship.  We are very proud that we were able to continue the tradition this year with all that is going on.

This years candidates were asked to complete an essay with a look back at their 4th grade self and suggest advice to themselves knowing what they know now as a 12th grader.  All of the essays received were fantastic and highlighted the need to put the time in, but also the importance of taking a moment to enjoy the competition, the friendships forged, and the life long bonds created from playing lacrosse together.

This year we have two fantastic Student Athletes that have come up through the youth program and on to playing Shelton Varsity Lacrosse and pursuing college this fall.

Mia Camerino - Mia began playing Shelton Youth Lacrosse in 4th grade and is scheduled to attend Boston College in the fall to study Biology on the pre-med track.

Nick Pagluiso - Nick began playing Shelton Youth Lacrosse in 4th grade and is planning on attending Endicott College, MA and will continue playing at the next level.

On behalf of all of Shelton Youth Lacrosse - Congrats on your growth and success and we certainly look forward to continuing to hear about your achievements at the next level.
