In the event of thunder and lightning during SYL games and practices the SYL policy is as follows:

Remove all players coaches and spectators from the field to a safe location (Preferably inside a building or their cars).

Play will be suspended until 30 minutes has elapsed from the last clap of thunder. If thunder continues for longer than 45 minutes following the suspension of play, the game should be rescheduled for another date.

Upon suspension of play and the coaches agree to continue play following the appropriate waiting time, it is up to the referee to determine if the play time should be running, stopped or abbreviated (ex. 10 min quarters to 8 min quarters).
